If you have had a tooth extracted or are missing several teeth, you may be able to restore your teeth permanently with dental implants.
Advantages of Dental Implants
Dental Implants are more natural-looking and better for eating than removable alternatives such as dentures. Another great benefit of replacing a tooth with a dental implant is that it does not require any preparation of your healthy teeth unlike what is required for anchoring a bridge.
There are other treatments for missing teeth such as dentures or bridges but dental implants are a more permanent , and natural-looking solution.
How do Dental Implants Work?
Dental implants are small titanium cylinders that replace the roots of missing teeth. Titanium is a bio-compatible material that essentially fuses with your jaw bone after the implant is placed. The unique characteristics of the fusing process give dental implants their long term stability. This process, which is known as osseointegration, takes several months to complete – but don’t worry we don’t let you walk around with your front tooth (or whichever it may be) missing throughout that time.
Once this process is complete, we then permanently attach a new crown on top of the implant, and your treatment is complete. You now have a new, very real-looking and behaving “tooth”. The new tooth actually looks, feels and works similarly to the rest of your natural teeth.
Our implant crowns are all made locally by our dental lab in Perth.
